‘Mission South Stack’
A FILM FOR OAKWILL FLOORING
Oakwill Flooring were lucky to be awarded by the contract to install new flooring at South Stack Lighthouse on Anglesey island. The lighthouse is over 200 years old and built by Trinity House on a small island off the coast of Holy Island in Anglesey.
Being such a unique job, it was a perfect opportunity for them to showcase their company in a promotional video. It ended up being a pretty epic experience!

The Oakwill team met with Yoke and described the ‘Mission Impossible’ style short film they had in mind. The most challenging part of their job would be to get flooring materials and people to site. With the 400 steps down the cliffs and then a foot bridge to the lighthouse, the only way to get materials in was by ship then helicopter. This made exciting yet challenging filming for Yoke.
There were several failed attempts due to storms and the Yoke video team had to be at South Stack at the drop of a hat to capture the event as it unfolded. In slightly calmer weather the Ship ‘Galatea’ got as close as it could to the light house and a helicopter carried all flooring materials across. It was a dramatic spectacle!
Once we had filmed the drop off we also got some amazing footage from within the lighthouse and in the lens itself. We captured the guys at Oakwill doing a great job fitting the flooring over the following weeks.
Yoke then went on to edit the footage to produce this short film with an epic feel ‘Mission South Stack’. To put the icing on the cake we created an original music score with orchestra and big drums to add to that classic filmic feel.
